New Star is the American University of Central Asia’s student newspaper. Student newspapers are uncommon in Central Asia, but are a regular feature of academic life in American liberal arts colleges and universities. They are an important space for freedom of speech.

At our department, New Star is not only an important space for freedom of speech, but also for journalistic practice. As part of our internship program, JMC students can write articles, do photos and make other journalistic contribution for the student newspaper.
