To earn an undergraduate (Bachelor of Arts) degree in Journalism and Mass Communications (JMC) at the American University of Central Asia, you will need to undergo the standard application process. Minimal requirements to transfer from another university

This policy imposes the minimal requirement for the transfer to our department. Only if a student meets these requirements can she/he apply to transfer.

Students successfully transferring to JMC will:

  1. Have a GPA 3.2 or higher.
  2. Have a TOEFL score equal to or higher than 480 (institutional TOEFL accepted).
  3. Have taken the following journalism and mass communications courses with a grade of B or higher:
  • for those transferring to second year:
    • Intro to Mass Communication and one (1) more mandatory course
  • for those transferring to third year:
    • Intro to Mass Communication and three (3) more mandatory courses

Application and assessment procedure

Our department accepts transfer applications once a year. The deadline for applications is the end of the Spring semester. Student should write the transfer exam (written exam – essay). The results will be announced within five days after the exam.
